Advanced Insurance Group was built upon the longstanding experience and trust of four reputable insurance agencies in Delphos and Van Wert: Rhoades Insurance Agency, Schmit Massa Agency, Purmort Brothers Insurance Agency and Gilden Insurance Agency. (All personnel have remained in place with each agency acquisition.)
In the Fall of 2021, the four companies were acquired to create Advanced Insurance Group – bringing together 200+ years’ combined experience in the insurance agency and greatly enhancing the list of capabilities, services and carriers for both existing + new customers. With backgrounds in personal, commercial and farm-lines, our team at Advanced Insurance Group offers customers’ peace-of-mind knowing their needs are always covered.

The Purmort Brothers Insurance Agency was founded in 1876 when Central Mutual Insurance Company was also founded. The agency was the first independent insurance agency to sell Central’s products. The Purmort family was the driving force behind starting the company. The agency was most recently ran by Michele Purmort Mooney and Leah Purmort Treece.
Farmers Mutual Aid Insurance Company formed in Ottoville.
The Rhoades Insurance Agency began when Paul W. (Dusty) Rhoades left the army after serving in World War II. Dusty began as an understudy of Martin Feigert in the Feigert Insurance Agency shortly after returning from the European Theatre. In 1955, Dusty purchased the Feigert Agency and started the original Rhoades Insurance Agency.
The Gilden Insurance Agency –
Warren Gilden Nationwide Insurance was established in 1956.
The Schmit Massa & Lloyd Agency was founded in 1957 by Robert T. Schmit.
Robert T. Schmit Insurance operated for years out of the back of Schmit's Market at the corner of Second and Canal Streets, until 1981 when the market closed its door.
After the market closed, the agency then moved to 126 S Main Street.
In 1990, Bob’s son- in-law, William Massa, joined and purchased the agency.
Warren Gilden passed away in 1976 and Mike Odenweller took over the agency from 1976 through 1982 when Jerry Gilden purchased the agency.
After Dusty’s death in January of 1974, the Rhoades Agency ceased to exist as it was sold to the HBW Insurance Agency. In 1983, Rhoades Insurance Agency was reestablished by Jim Rhoades, Dusty’s son.
In 1989, Jerry Gilden Nationwide Insurance relocated to 403 N. Main Street in Delphos, Ohio (Advance Insurance Group’s current location today).
Aaron Anspach & Adam Anspach acquired Rhoades Insurance and
Schmit Massa & Lloyd Insurance. All staff remain in place with the purchase.
In December 2021, Purmort Brothers Insurance is acquired by
Advanced Insurance Group. All staff remain in place after the purchase.
In July 2022, Jerry Gilden Insurance is acquired by
Advanced Insurance Group. All staff remain in place after the purchase.

Adam Anspach
Managing Partner
Adam Anspach was born and raised in Van Wert, OH. He is a 2002 graduate of Lincolnview High School. Adam attended UNOH and graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration and an Associate’s Degree in Marketing.
In September of 2003, Adam began his career at Central Insurance as a Multi-Line Claims Adjuster. In 2005, Adam moved to Commercial Lines Underwriting where he spent almost four years underwriting in Ohio and Indiana. In 2009, he was promoted to W. Ohio Marketing Manager working with 35 independent agencies throughout western Ohio and was responsible for both Personal Lines and Commercial Lines with over $30M in Written Premium. In 2013, he was promoted to a Home Office as the Marketing Development Manager. In this position, Adam traveled across 22 states and was responsible for training and developing Marketing Managers across the country.
One very valuable experience in this position was the focus on top performing agents. Much of Adam’s time & effort was spent with the high performing agents in each territory as he trained the staff on effectively working with Central Insurance. In 2017, Adam moved into a Regional Marketing Manager role where he was responsible for all marketing efforts in six states (IL, IN, KY MI, OH, WI). This again allowed him to build strong relationships and learn from some of the best agencies in these states. This also provided great experience for Adam in his current position.
Aaron Anspach
Managing Partner
Aaron Anspach was also raised in Van Wert, OH and graduated from Lincolnview High School in 1996. Aaron worked as a technician at P&R Home IV Service until 2001 when he received his insurance license for both Property/Casualty and Life/Health.
After receiving his insurance license, Aaron moved to Dayton, OH to work for AAA Miami Valley Insurance Office. After six months he was promoted to Agency Manager and was in that role for three and a half years. In late 2005 Aaron moved back to Van Wert County and worked with Physicians Mutual selling Medicare Supplemental and Life Insurance. In 2006, Aaron joined Aflac as an associate for three years and was promoted in 2009 to the District Sales Coordinator role. He was in this role for nine and a half years. This position allowed Aaron the opportunity to get to know hundreds of decision makers in businesses throughout northwest Ohio.
In 2018, Aaron was promoted to Regional Sales Manager for Aflac where he was responsible for sales and recruiting of the northwest Ohio territory, covering 22 of Ohio’s 88 counties. Aaron began working with Gilden Insurance in December of 2019 and has maintained his involvement in the agency as a succession plan for his current role.
